Salmon Producer Is First in Chile to Earn BAP Group Certification

Salmones Multiexport S.A. is Chile’s first salmon producer to earn Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) certification under the two-year BAP group audit, which is designed specifically for salmon producers. In total, 14 farms attained certification. The BAP group audit for salmon producers was established in 2016 to reward companies with sophisticated, well-established quality management systems. Farms are held to the same requirements set forth in the BAP salmon farm standards, but the BAP group audit allows for fewer third-party audits, reducing costs while maintaining the integrity of the audit procedure. BAP to Present at International Food Safety Conference for Latin America

Jeff Peterson, program integrity advisor for the Global Aquaculture Alliance’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) third-party certification program, is presenting at the International Food Safety Conference for Latin America in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Organized by NSF International and held at the Wyndham Hotel from Sept. 19 to 20, the event brings together food-safety experts from around the world, particularly Latin America, to discuss shared responsibilities and goals. Redesigned BAP Logo Unveiled As Part Of Rebranding Campaign

The Global Aquaculture Alliance is proud to announce that its industry-leading third-party aquaculture certification program, Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP), has a new look. On July 25, GAA unveiled a redesigned BAP logo as part of a rebranding campaign that will officially roll out in October 2019. Since its inception in 2002, BAP has evolved and grown tremendously, and the rebranding campaign acknowledges the program’s journey from an industry-facing solution to a publicly recognized brand. China’s Hema Fresh Commits to Sourcing BAP Seafood

The Global Aquaculture Alliance has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Hema Fresh whereby the Chinese supermarket chain has incorporated GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) into its sustainable seafood sourcing policy for its private label brand, Difresco. Hema Fresh, which is owned by Alibaba, has committed to sourcing BAP shrimp and pangasius and promoting the third-party certification program across its online and offline channels.
