Enhanced Social Accountability (SA) and
Employee Health and Safety (EHS) Audit

What It Is

This audit offers a more in-depth review of the social accountability and environmental healty and safety clauses in our standard. This audit is available to all producers as a voluntary enhancement for marketplace endorsers, suppliers or producers seeking to differentiate their supply chain with added assurances.

Why We Do It

The purpose of this audit is to help leading producers get recognition for going above and beyond the usual requirements in the social space. These producers exemplify exceptional practices in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their workforce.

How It Works

The audit must be conducted under Seafood Processing Standard (SPS) Issue 5.0 and it contains the addition of a specially trained social accountability auditor to accompany the lead auditor.

Food Safety and Residue Testing (FSRT) Program

What It Is

Currently in pilot phase, the enhanced FSRT is a finished-product food safety and residue sampling and testing program that includes a one to two-day notice to producers, anonymized, third-party sampling and testing protocols, and inventory traceability at the point of sampling.

Why We Do It

This program was created to improve our current sampling and testing surveillance efforts and reduce cases of detection and/or detention by sanitation authorities, thereby improving confidence in certification.

How It Works

Currently, all certified plants in the pilot regions of India, Thailand, and Vietnam are required to participate in the FSRT pilot. Results are being analyzed and improvements are underway for rollout across all countries and regions where certification takes place.

Supply Chain Transparency

What It Is

Our Supply Chain Transparency (SCT) program is a free service for marketplace endorsers that provides them with increased visibility into their supply chains.

Why We Do It

SCT provides insight into each endorser's needs for certified product compared to what is available in their supply chain.

How It Works

Endorsers participate in SCT by providing data relative to their needs by species/producer in their supply chains. BAP works to analyze this data to identify gaps, risks, and overlaps and work with each company to address opportunities for improvement.
